Read MoreI booked our trip with Scallywag after reading all the incredible reviews, so I knew I wanted to leave one of my own—because our time with Nick was absolutely unforgettable! This ended up being our favorite moment of our entire beach trip, and I know our kids will carry it as a core childhood memory.
Nick made the experience so much fun, and we immediately felt right at home on his boat. As avid lake fishers, we were blown away by his ability to keep all of us baited and fishing nonstop. He took us straight to the best spots—he couldn’t even drop a line to demonstrate before we already had fish hooked! We caught more than we could have hoped for, and by the end, we all had “jello arms” from reeling in some big fighters. It was an absolute blast!
One of my favorite moments actually came the next day. While getting ready for family photos, my 12-year-old complained about wearing nice clothes on the beach when everyone else was in swimsuits. I told him not to worry—no one here knew him. He instantly replied, “I know Nick!” That says it all right there.
We chose the 7:00 a.m. fishing trip, and it was perfect. The water was calm and peaceful before all the pontoon rentals opened at 9:00. Nick was early, so we even got a head start. The three-hour trip was the perfect length—we never felt rushed, and we didn’t feel like we missed out by not booking longer. That said, we easily could have stayed out there all day with Nick… if our arms could keep up with the reeling!
A small storm was moving in toward the end of our trip, but Nick kept a close eye on it, stayed in touch with others, and got us back to the marina before a single drop of rain fell. We felt completely safe and knew our well-being was his top priority.
And to Nick’s wonderful wife—he told us all about your impressive trailer-backing skills at the boat ramp, and you should know he’s very proud of you!
