First, in my opinion my apartment was not move in ready despite not starting to move in 10 days past when I paid the rent. Paint spots all over floor, refrigerator leaked, master bath shower leaked, frame missing piece on pantry door, to name just a few. I signed the lease early giving them plenty of time to ensure apartment was ready. I am transitioning from PA to Charlotte and my timeline for moving permanently is still 6-8 months. I have pets so I wanted an end unit. I was originally 75 on list and told NOVEMBER/ DECEMBER timeframe. People obviously dropped off list due to building delays so my name popped up earlier than expected. I was given 24 hours to decide, by the way, if I hadn’t mentioned it, I am still in PA. I was told I couldn’t sign lease and do a move in of OCTOBER 1, if so I wanted that unit. So I signed for SEPTEMBER 1, arrived SEPTEMBER 10, to pick up keys, and there is all kinds of things that need fixed. Something is wrong with the process. I understand Charlotte is a unique housing environment. However, I have rented all over the world and never had a rental turned over to me like this. I am a retired Army officer and feel you missed the mark on this one. Monica and Antoinette have been great answering all my emails and phone calls along the way. I blame the system you have set up and the push for ensuring the apartments get filled by a certain time.
