In 2021, shortly after purchasing our home, we were approached by a salesperson from Power Home Remodeling who introduced us to their products. Believing in the company’s reputation, we decided to replace our backdoor, as it needed an upgrade. Unfortunately, this decision initially proved to be a regrettable one.
From the outset, the door presented issues with proper closure. It required forceful shutting to engage the deadbolt, often triggering alerts from our security system that the door was not fully closed.
In April 2024, another salesperson visited to promote their services. During this visit, I voiced my frustrations with the door and was informed of the company’s “lifetime warranty.” I immediately contacted customer service to request a repair, but the earliest available appointment was three months later, in July 2024. When the technician finally arrived, their solution was to enlarge the deadbolt hole, a fix that was both sloppy and unprofessional (see attached images). While this initially resolved the deadbolt issue, it created a new problem—the door no longer closed flush unless locked from the inside, making the primary doorknob unusable.
A subsequent request for a follow-up repair resulted in another three-month wait, with customer service scheduling an appointment for late 2024. In the meantime, I was advised to lock the door using a key from the outside, a suggestion that was both impractical and unsafe, particularly with a young daughter at home. The safety concerns this raised were unacceptable.
However, I must provide credit where it is due. After repeated calls and expressing my concerns to a manager, a technician named Rafael was sent to address the issue—one month earlier than scheduled. Unlike the previous technician, Rafael displayed exceptional professionalism and attention to detail. He carefully inspected the door inside and out, tested it multiple times to ensure it worked perfectly, and had me test it myself to confirm the issue was resolved. Rafael was thorough, patient, and clearly committed to doing the job right. If I could rate Rafael alone, he would get 5 stars.
While Rafael’s service was outstanding and ultimately resolved the issue, the overall experience with Power Home Remodeling was frustrating due to long delays, subpar solutions from earlier technicians, and poor communication. For these reasons, I’m updating my review to 3 stars.
If you encounter issues with your installation and need repairs, I highly recommend requesting Rafael. His dedication and skill were the only highlights in an otherwise challenging experience. Ultimately, I hope this review encourages Power Home Remodeling to improve their customer service and repair processes for future customers.
