Read MoreI have lived in White Plains most of my life and pride myself in having great local knowledge. However, I totally didn't live up to this "local insider status" in the years before I went to Old World Barber. Since I live about ten minutes from here, I definitely had seen the location but didn't go in for years. Fortunately, that's changed now! Amazing haircuts that actually last me for over six weeks (which is a big deal for me - I normally had to go once a month... or more).
In terms of quality of the cut, it's amazing. I have been going to Leo, whose dad Mike is the owner. Both of them are friendly and give great cuts. My cuts from Leo were VERY attentive - as in it's not a buzz and dash operation... He actually takes time to make sure that the hairs on your head are falling in the right direction rather than just trying to make the barber chair like a revolving door for clients. I hate when I have gotten cuts from other barbers and felt so rushed. It ruins what should be a relaxing experience. Thankfully, this place gets that and not once did I feel hurried. So huge props on that. He also knows the area and we had an interesting chat on local restaurants - what's good to order, which places are relocating, etc. Big plus to get a free guide on local goings on along with your haircut!
In terms of waiting to be seen, it's A+. I've never waited more than a few minutes to get a cut here. Also, parking is super easy and convenient since it's right off of Central Ave near Best Buy and Domino's.
