In March 2024, we noticed the wall outside our master bathroom shower becoming spongy, with what appeared to be mold seeping through. We had a handyman come out to assess the issue, and when he cut into the wall, he told us we had a much bigger problem than we initially thought. He recommended contacting our insurance company for an estimate.
After an inspection, we discovered that the shower pan had failed and had been leaking for some time. The insurance company provided an estimate for a full bathroom remodel down to the studs.
