I disagree with below post. It talks about 1 person and then it groups the salon as bad. 1 person doesn’t make the whole salon bad.
However, some changes are needed. It is COVID season and cases are very high here. Safety measures are not taken into account. Masks are not required nor enforced to be worn properly.
It is large in space with 3 licensed stylists. This salon’s interior is outdated, but it’s Sumter, SC. It’s expected? I guess. It gives you the feel of a barbershop instead of a salon. No front counter, no products for sale like most salons for women & no dedicated space to make payments. It houses two large couches which are not in the waiting area. Yet, plastic folder chairs are in the waiting area. There were triple the amount of folding chairs in the waiting area than there are stylists, which was not a good impression. That’s a sign of double booking. Luckily, I didn’t have to wait.
Black owner, Ashley B. does great work with her hands. She is known for doing locs but is well rounded in many areas. She is friendly, sweet, a Christian and takes pride in her work.
However, all of the stylists could do better with introductions upon entering since there are more than one working in a large, open space. I walked in and was greeted with a look, in silence. Little odd for a business to not greet a client/customer. I had to speak first by saying hello. Also, most salons offer water, not here. If so, I was not offered one.
Not everyone wears an Undisputed Ladies First cape. It gave the impression stylists do not want to represent the salon, just themselves as different types of capes were worn. Some didn’t have on any. Ashley is always presentable with a professional “I am a stylist” look. Others, are dressed as if they are making a quick stop for gas and going back home.
Some may want to adapt: “Don’t dress for the job you have, dress for the job you want.” Want to be an owner of a salon? Dress like one.
For Google users, you can find the salon using booksy.com under their new name “Undisputed Ladies First” unlike “Ladies First” as shown on Google.
Parking is limited. Store front, off street parking feel. Salon is adjacent to a barbershop for those who want to take the whole family for a one stop experience.
Overall, all the ladies are nice. You will end up with a good finished product.
