Disappointed by Poor Service Despite a Nice Hotel
The Hampton Inn in Fort Lauderdale looks the part of a 3-star hotel — the lobby is attractive, the rooms are decent, and the breakfast was actually pretty good. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
Check-in was a mess. We were told our room would be ready earlier in the day, but even after calling around 11 a.m. to confirm, it wasn’t available until after 6 p.m. Room service was another letdown — not only extremely slow, but also rude. The following day, housekeeping showed up around 4 p.m., and when my wife answered the door (since I was in the shower), the staff member tried to argue with her about needing to clean right then because she was “about to get off work.” Completely unprofessional.
Even worse, one of our family’s rooms had a broken AC unit — in the middle of Florida summer — and the only “solution” provided was a small desk fan. To make matters worse, that was a designated accessible (handicapped) room. Thankfully, we didn’t need the accessibility features, but the lack of response or effort to fix the AC or move them to another room was incredibly disappointing.
While the hotel looks nice on the surface, management and service need serious improvement. A good-looking hotel means nothing without proper hospitality behind it.
All in all not a bad price for it being near the port
P.s: front desk staff was very friendly and hospitable
