I read the reviews of this shop before dropping off my Subaru for a transmission diagnostic and ultimately replacement. I was very curious to see how accurate especially some of the five stars were, and I found them to be on point.
When you begin your communication journey with gear pro, you are going to enjoy every interaction with John. He is knowledgeable, caring, and timely in his responses. To me, it was like having a conversation with my mechanic uncle. He explained things to me in an easy to understand way, but was never demeaning.
Offering a free diagnostic is absolutely a value add. These guys aren’t wasting their time or yours like a dealership attempting to find things that are wrong that aren’t actually wrong. And if you have your vehicle dropped off before noon, there’s 99% chance they’re gonna have your stuff figured out before the end of the day.
The speed at which they perform the repairs is astounding. Having worked with multiple shops across multiple states throughout my two decades of owning large and small vehicles, I’ve had vehicles with lesser things wrong held hostage in the shop for weeks. The fact that they were able to do an entire transmission replacement in 48 hours in my particular case was astounding.
Now, the “bad.”
As a detailed researcher, they did not up-charge me much on the parts itself. Obviously any shop is going to do that slightly, but I was able to find comparable prices for parts in multiple locations. As a matter of fact, they actually found a better deal on the main part that I needed than I was able to find. (A first for me)
I did spend about $1,000 more in labor cost than I would have at several other orlando area shops. But given the warranty, quality, and speed - I justified it.
All in all - 5 stars.
Intake and exit were easy and convenient.
Communication was stellar.
Repair was fast.
If I have any issues in the future, I’ll be back to this shop. And you can bet that if this review is still posted in this original form, it’s because their work is excellent and long lasting.
