After doing CrossFit-type training for close to 10 years, I wanted to continue class-based workouts, but was ready for something new. I looked around at the options in the Fairmount area and decided to try Fight Club Philadelphia. It is a kickboxing gym on Broad Street near the Met, that is not fancy, but is clean and provided exactly the environment I was looking for.
The 45-minute classes are virtually non-stop and provide a mix of kickboxing bag work, strength-building and conditioning. The coaches are knowledgeable and enthusiastic, the programming is well thought out, and the music selection is great. Starting at a new gym with no martial arts experience and being twice the age of most other participants is not easy. Fortunately, the coaches and other members have been very welcoming and highly supportive, helping to make my first 6 weeks at the gym a great experience.
While my kickboxing journey has just begun, I know I made the right decision to begin it here. The most important thing I look for in a workout program is one that keeps me coming back, day after day, week after week. I have found that at Fight Club Philadelphia.
