Disappointing Experience – Used to Love This Salon
I’m writing this on behalf of my wife, who has been a loyal customer at this salon for quite some time and has always had great experiences, especially with her usual stylist, Katie. Unfortunately, her recent visit two days ago was far from what we've come to expect.
My wife couldn’t book with Katie this time, as she wasn’t available on the schedule, so she ended up booking with another stylist. Sadly, the experience was disappointing, and I felt compelled to share her concerns.
To start, the stylist was extremely disorganized. It seemed like she was rushing through the appointment . During the shampoo, water kept splashing into my wife’s eyes and ears—something that should be a basic part of the service. After her hair was cut, the stylist didn’t bother to clean off the wet cut hair from her body. It was left there until after the blow dry was done, making the whole experience uncomfortable and rushed. To top it off, the stylist reused the same cover from the client before her, without offering a fresh one, which felt unprofessional and unhygienic.
What really bothered my wife, though, was drying the damp hair before the blow-drying process. The heat from the dryer was so intense that it actually hurt her scalp, and she winced in discomfort. Despite her making noises in response to the heat, the stylist didn’t reduce the temperature or check if she was okay. My wife mentioned she could’ve spoken up, but by that point, she didn’t feel comfortable doing so because the stylist hadn’t been very responsive or engaged throughout the appointment.
On the positive side, the haircut itself turned out well. My wife was pleased with the cut and got exactly what she asked for. However, the overall experience lacked the personal touch she’s used to, especially in terms of interaction with the stylist. The stylist was very quiet, and my wife felt a bit disconnected throughout the appointment. She can’t help but wonder if her background as a woman of color (Asian) played a role in how the stylist interacted with her, as she didn’t feel like the stylist was particularly familiar or comfortable with her .
Katie has always been wonderful, and we’re hoping this was just a one-off experience with the other stylist. But based on how this visit went, my wife is unsure if she’ll return.
It’s really disappointing to see the quality drop, as this salon used to be fantastic. I hope the management takes note of these issues, as my wife has always spoken highly of this place in the past.
