I just got my hair cut on 12/21. I showed a reference photo (my own photo of a previous haircut) and asked for that. I said I wanted a blunt cut, no layers. Not only did I not get what I asked for, I have random layers, thinned hair, and a cut that is not blunt. When Alayana started with the back of my hair, she began holding the scissors downwards and upwards, and I asked her what she was doing. She told me that is how she cuts it, and to trust her. I told her not to do this and to not do this when she gets to my sides. She did not listen. I got uncomfortable and questioned her again, and she started to tell me my hair was thick so she needed to do it. My hair is thinning as I get older and I explicitly told her I did not want it thinned, that my previous hair stylists have never cut it like that nor did they have to thin it to give me a blunt cut. But she did not listen and proceeded. I didn't know what to do. She turned on her straightener part way through my appointment, which gave me some relief for two reasons, one, I thought she was going to straighten it and assure it was straight across, blunt cut and two, I thought maybe I would feel better once she used it to create a wave, and I would like how my hair looked. She finished cutting my hair, and asked me if I would like it styled. Confused, I said yes, and she said that would be an additional $15 on top of the $60 cut. I was not made aware that styling my hair would be an additional cost. I was already upset and the lack of transparency made me upset. So I politely declined and went to the counter to pay. It has now been over 24 hours and I still hate my hair. She thinned it when I told her not to. I was not listened to, and paid $60 for a cut that is not to my liking. I am extremely distraught because I went shorter than I normally do, which is fine, but I am uncomfortable because I don't want to take more off to make it blunt like I asked for. She thinned it, and it will take awhile for that to grow back. She was nice but did not listen to me and I don't understand why. I have never had this type of experience before but I wanted to make others aware. I did my research and chose this salon because it is nice, and I want to think it was a mistake but she literally told me to trust her, when it was already too late, as she had already thinned the back, then thinned the sides when I told her not to do it! I have photos of her doing this, too, and will post here. Photos are me in the salon getting my hair thinned against my wishes, and my reference photo, of me with a blunt cut, which I showed her.
