I'm just gonna take a moment to rave about my love for this tattoo shop and the people who work here.
Picture this, I started collecting tattoos while serving in the navy. I had a ton of fun going to cons and trying out new shops, but when I got home to Greenville, South Carolina, I wanted to find "my shop" the shop that is my go to!
I began searching for an artist to do my right half sleeve back in 2022. At the time, the amount of neotradional artists in Greenville was low. And the ones I did reach out to didn't vibe well with me. You know when you're talking to someone and they just seem annoyed and bored by your presence? That's what I was getting.
So, I decided to look for artists outside of the greenville area. I ended up on Instagram searching "neotrad tattoo artists asheville" when Narnia popped up!
Her portfolio was still relatively small on the animal examples at the time. She had only one or two animal tattoos on her Instagram page at the time. I decided to keep looking, but I kept going back to her page constantly.
What drew me in was her upfront-iness. She had her prices listed. Then, her words on her profile about accepting all bodies, all peoples, all walks of life. It just resonated with me.
Then, one day, she posted about wanting to do more animal tattoos for her portfolio, and boy, it was my time to shine.
What started with a half sleeve consisting of a fox, a deer, and a mouse... and evolved into: an owl, a catfish, a neopet, a lock and key, a lucky cat paw, a magical girl wand, a moth, strawberries, and rarities cutie mark.
She has done 11 of my tattoos to date and will do many more in the future. With one appointment coming up here next week!
And why's that?
Because she's amazing! Her designs have their own unique flair to them. A style all her own. Her way with color, blending so beautifully and softy... her work truly looks like velvet on my skin.
She's light handed, I have over 30 tattoos, her tattoos have been the only ones that consistently always heal extremely well and fast! I've have tattoos that scarred because artists where too heavy handed. I've had scabs, lasting for 2 months on some tattoos. But on my Narnia tattoos? Nothing. They heal so easily.
Narnia is also extremely considerate. She will meet any reasonable accommodation you need and does her best to make you feel comfortable.
She's also super easy to book with. Some artists make you jump through hoops to get them to answer an email. Not Narnia. Need to rebook? She doesn't mind and does her best to rebook asap!
In conclusion,
Some tattoo artists and studios are intimidating. Some make you feel like you're an inconvenience. Which sucks, because it should be fun to get a tattoo! If you're looking for a place to hang out and get good tattoos/piercings, you've found it.
And if you're looking for a rad chick who can make some sweet neotradional animals for ya, go see my girl, Narnia, you won't regret it.
