Have a care with this fun company. I have had insurance with this office for over 40 years. Like a Good Neighbor they were always there until you make a major claim. I purchased my home and car and used State Farm. Because of incompetent plumbing (Kenny's Plumbing Oklahoma City) I developed a slab leak, these plumbers laid the water lines on top of each other, not very wise. (Oh yes...don't ever schedule your slab leak over the weekend because State Farm doesn't work on certain days) I called my good neighbor Mr Gee and a couple of days later out comes the insurance guy. I had already contacted a plumber for repairs and the insurance guy was upset because I started without him. I guess because it wasn't his house so why couldn't I just wait a few days with no water on in my broken home. Now imagine this... the floor in your home is ripped up and if that isn't enough State Farm would send a check that had to be cosigned with the mortgage company so you had to turn round and mail it off to them to sign. If you didn't do it right it took weeks. Calling on the phone "What's the matter now?" sitting on hold and waiting... looking at your destroyed floor... carpet ripped up... dirt in your home... Walking around your home on paths... to avoid dirt... Then out comes the guy who brings large fans that run all night and keep you awake... A frightening or unpleasant dream. When it was all done and your home is back to normal State Farm cancels your home insurance. You pay them over and over and heaven forbid if you have to call this guy for a claim. I get on the phone and the guy who made the decision to cancel you will not come to the phone or call you back to explain why.
So now your without home insurance in Oklahoma and you hope the weather doesn't get ugly... you go looking for some other insurance company on your day off, like you have the time for that... That was fun. I drive over and sit and spend time at some insurance office just to find out that State Farm has blackballed you on their network computer so all the other insurance companies just say no. Just be on your guard when you call this place.
Example two a few years back, I was traveling north on Western St in OKC and not long after I passed SW 59 a Southbound auto struck a lane changer and pushed them into the oncoming traffic. In turn that vehicle crossed the yellow line and struck my truck. The damage was my driver side rearview mirror taken off. That is a $800 dollar remote controlled plastic one at that. I called Darrel Gee and got the ball rolling. They informed me I needed to pay a $100 dollar copay up front. They assured me they will give in back as soon as they get it from the offending party's insurance. Like a good neighbor I gave it to them. 3 months went by and I called Darrel Gee up and he then informed me I don't get it back. So they flat out lied to me to get some cash. Remember I am well into my 50's and have had this office insuring my vehicles since I was 16 years old. So when Darrel Gee canceled my home insurance I moved all my insurance needs elsewhere.
Then I start getting letters from Mr. Gee solliciting me to insure my car. I guess State Farm thinks you hire them just to give them a job. Good customer service is how the customer views it.
There like anyone else I guess, when your on the up and up there your pals... the second you have a case of bad luck they run...
I stopped looking for a dream insurance company, I just wanted one that wasn't a nightmare.
My son found a short comedic video on line that really explains how State Farm Insurance really works.
