There is nothing traditional about my 1962 Norfolk home, which required a flat rubber membrane roof that is closer to a commercial project than a residential replacement. From the start, Chandler’s Bryan Lynch proved to be the consummate contractor. After obtaining multiple estimates, his price was not only the fairest, but in the end, he delivered day after day throughout the process. This was a monster job, taking more than a week, and it was all the more challenging because of 60-year-old skylights, new metal trim required around the 4,000-square-foot roofline, and sections with rotted timbers. Bryan was present (from Richmond) every day, while his crew (led by the ever-smiling Lionel) worked at warp speed to get the job done. Roofing is never a “sexy” home improvement, like a new patio or fresh windows. I mean, you can hardly see it, right? But having a safe roof over one’s head is… actually… among the most essential upgrades. Chandler gets my vote. For the most expensive upgrade I’ve devoted to my beloved home of 11 years, I am grateful for Bryan’s good work, his grace, his superlative positive attitude and for feeling like, by the end, I’d found a new friend.
