People need to understand that Blue Moon Fitness follows the model of Planet Fitness. Its "all you can work out" and done in volume to make sure fitness fees are low enough that many people will continue paying them. This is not something they try to hide behind, indeed, their name reflects it. They are the gym for people who want to work out, even once in a Blue Moon. Knowing that, this club exceeded all my expectations for the two years I was a member at the North club location.
There is practically limitless cardio equipment, even during peak hours. I never had a problem getting any cardio equipment except the recumbent bikes (which they just doubled their number!). In the weight area, things like squat racks can become a bit congested, but I have never had a problem with sharing and waiting for guys to finish their last set before you can use it. My girlfriend used the women's area and said it was really nice and completely obscured from any passing by.
This club is not a Lifetime palace, but its also the only fitness club I've been a member of that has undertaken major renovations. When I joined, the locker rooms had a surplus of lockers, but kinda gross, yellowed plastic showers that were cracking. After a major renovation this last year, the locker rooms have been shrunk (to add dressing-room-style changing spaces) and the bathroom and showers have been redone in gorgeous tile. The water temperature has also had a major bump in how long and how hot the water will get.
When I gave my notice to the staff and thanked them for much of the same stuff that I am writing (in addition to them always being in a positive mood and looking like they were having fun working with each other) they told me the next renovation stage was the workout floor. This supports the notion that Blue Moon is not a club content to just take those membership fees and use them to grow, they continue to reinvest in their clubs. I know I was hesitant when I first read these reviews to sign up there, but I have come to realize many of these people simply did not read their contracts and did not like being obligated to pay cancellation fees. Keep an eye out on their website for non-contract offerings and you will not regret the value this club will provide you for their paltry membership fees! Good luck Blue Moon and thanks for the many great workouts!
