Do yourself a favor and use another of the many HVAC contractors in the area. Ace and A clearly does not do a thorough job and has charged us many thousands of dollars for two HVAC systems that they installed in our house over a period of years, only to tell us, now, that we need more than $5,000 of changes to our ductwork in order for those systems to work properly—even though we’ve had the exact same ductwork in place since before they started working on our house.
We’d used Ace and A (Decatur location) for years. After replacing our downstairs system years ago, it never cooled as well as the prior one, and whenever service people came out, they always said that there is nothing we can do because we shouldn’t expect our house to be cool when the outside temperature is high. That was not the case with the system they replaced.
We continued to use them, including replacement of our upstairs system, several years ago. As was the case with our downstairs system, our upstairs has been very hot—much hotter than it was before we replaced it. All of this has cost many thousands of dollars and has left us with an upstairs and downstairs that are both much hotter than before Ace and A “fixed” the units. This summer, we paid for another service call due to excessive heat and were told—for the first time—that our duct system is setup incorrectly and needs literally more than $5,000 of work, in order for both of the systems that they recommended and installed to cool properly. Yet, this is the same duct system that was in place when Ace and A replaced our downstairs system, and when it later replaced the upstairs system.
When I complained about Ace and A’s failure to recognize this issue before its service people did any work at our house, no one apologized. Nor did anyone object when I stated that it at least have been cheaper to have done the duct work along with the other work that has been done. They did not apologize at all to a frustrated and long-term customer and did not try to work with us in any way to reduce the cost of the additional work that they failed to recognize for years, even though they proceeded to install and charge us for two new systems—which by their own admission require an additional $5,000 of work in order to perform properly.
