The price was EXHORBITANT! $771 to run a snake through a clog.The technicians were polite. The job was done in a timely and efficient manner. I won't be calling this company again.Second Addendum: The office administrator sent a revised invoice ($454.25). The original invoice description read: "Stoppage Main Line thru Clean out - through floor drain and laundry sink." The revised invoice description reads: "Provide labor and materials to unclogged (sic) Laundry Stoppage - line was cleared to the floor drain that connects to utility sink in basement." The work I hired A-Atlantic to do was clear the clog that caused overflow from the floor drain when my clothes washer discharged into the deep sink next to the floor drain. Necessarily, the blockage existed somewhere past the floor drain, and snaking the line from the deep sink to "the floor drain" did not resolve the problem. That said, the main sewer line was cleared so that water from the washer/deep sink no longer comes up through the floor drain. The price charged by the second invoice is, when compared to charges I've had from other plumbers, reasonable for the equipment and skill required, and the time and effort expended. I am changing my rating to 4-star (Technically proficient work performed but charges initially unrealistic with regard to the complexity and scope of the work).FIrst Addendum: After reading my initial 3 star review, the owner of A-Atlantic called, asking why I couldn't give a 5 star review. My response was, and is, snaking a drain is Plumbing 101. By that I mean that snaking a drain requires basic plumbing tools, and no superior knowledge or skill. A later call from the office administrator, the company offered to reduce the price to $485 because only one line had to be unclogged. When I accepted, the administrator said she would present the matter to the owner for approval. An hour or so later, the plumber who did the work came to my house and returned the check I had written. The plumber said the owner was not going to send an adjusted invoice. I said I did not want any free work and I asked for assurance that the plumber would be paid. His answer was equivocal, giving me the impression that he was an independent contractor, and he would not be paid despite having cleared the clog in my drain. I have reduced my appraisal of A-Atlantic until I receive a revised invoice and assurance that the independent contractor who did the work will be paid, and that no reprisal will be taken against him.
