One of the companies wanted to charge $135 in addition to whatever the repair would codt because they would be coming after 5 PM. The other company showed up during business hours and quoted me $665 for the repair. That is, IF he could locate the part. After several hours he messaged us with some excuses as to why that part could not be found anywhere without ordering it (several business day) OR they would be happy to install a new water heater for over $2,200! Talk about laying us over a barrel! It was like they were attempting to hold us hostage knowing that we were desperate to get our water heater working again.
I contacted the hot water heater manufacturing company and although the water heater has been installed five years ago we were still covered under parts warranty. Apparently, we have a 13 year parts warranty. Not only were we covered for parts, but they could have the part mailed to us overnight! The part arrived the very next day. The other plumbing company said they would install the part for $364, but I didn’t feel comfortable having them do the repair since they were so shady about the part availability and suggesting to replace the entire water heater was so out of line.
So, I was going to have the part with nobody to install it until I ran across a truck parked in my neighborhood with a very nice professional wrap on it. I figured… What did I have to lose? Earl from 24 Hour Express Services quoted me $150 to replace the part. They were there the next day, when they said they would be, & my neighbor was the technician they sent to do the repair! His name is David Diaz and if you ever get a chance to request him, I know he will do a tremendous job for you! He told me he has worked for four other plumbing companies, and I guess it’s a business practice for many of them to just blatantly steal from customers! They’ll charge as much as you’re willing to pay! David explained that 24 Hour Express Treats their employees & customers like family. Kudos to these guys for treating people right and for providing a fair, honest service. David is my new plumber & I will shout it from the top of the hill so as many family, friends, & people reading this review can find the help that they need from an experienced, honest company who will charge a fair price!
