As a child, I went to the Y. O. Ranch on many occasions. Despite some family drama, these were mostly joyous visits. I can remember bringing my PlayStation 2 and hooking it up to the hotel room TV, and then, using it as a DVD player, watching Dog Day Afternoon and The Age of Innocence (one of Scorsese’s most underrated pictures). As a high schooler, I went back to attend an Ed Foreman seminar, where I learned “life is terrific!” And how could it not be, at the Y. O. Ranch? As an adult, I visited the Y. O. Ranch with my wife (before she was my wife, I might add), and we had a memorable time in the hot tub with a middle-aged man named Dan. He was driving cross-country with his wife, Ann (what a pair!). We have never forgotten our wide-ranging conversation with Dan - and it may well be our last hot tub conversation of all time, as we have been told that they carry diseases. But make no mistake - we will return to the Y. O. Ranch. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll bring my PlayStation 2 for old time’s sake.
