I visited on 8/24/24 with my three daughters ages 10, 6 and 4. Upon entering the owner said, "Sorry we're busy so it will be a while". I said, "That's okay. Don't worry we can wait". She stated, "Kids need to stay by the tables" referencing towards tables at the front window of the establishment. I stated, "Not a problem". It should be noted the tables are standing height and it wouldn't be safe for my 2 younger children to sit at and it was raining outside. After standing for a moment I told my daughters to sit down with me on a couch near the tables that wasn't occupied and wait quietly until we could order. After a minute or 2 of sitting quietly and my children behaving perfectly the owner noticed me and directed, "You can't sit there, children have to sit at the tables." I asked, "We can't sit on the couch quietly?". She scolded me in front of a dozen patrons and said "No. Tables only." I responded, "I guess we'll leave then if you don't want our business." and left with my children.
I felt deeply offended by this behavior and discriminated against for having children despite their good behavior. It is abnormal to have a coffee shop and not be able to sit on a couch because of being accompanied by children. I had been at this establishment twice prior and have to say it's a nice shop with decent drinks and prices. Unfortunately I will not be a repeat customer after this abnormal and offensive treatment.
