Immediate thoughts- we love the atmosphere. That's honestly the best thing about this place. Low key, nothing fancy, not crowded, clean, has a comfortable setting, fireplace lit, some young guy singing bar style, and lots to look at; we loved all the memorabilia everywhere. As we walked in, we were told we could seat ourselves. We found a place, and we're promptly brought menus, and asked what we wanted to drink. Not until AFTER we placed our drink order did they inform us the owner "prefers" cash or check, and we were directed to the ATM nearby. (Maybe post a sign on the door or as you walk in so newcomers aren't caught by surprise). When it came time to order, they have a fairly small menu, and not all of it is even available. The first two things I inquired about, I was told no, they don't have it. We settled on a hamburger plate with a loaded potato, and the Saddlebag Chicken plate (I believe that's what it was called), also with a loaded baked potato. Note, they charge $1.95 EXTRA for simply adding a drop of sour cream, shredded cheese, and a few chives to the potatoes. The service was good, she kept our table clean, drinks full, and regularly made sure we didn't need anything. The owner meanders about checking on the customers, and making small talk; super nice guy, who probably never meets a stranger. At the end of our meal, we were asked if we wanted dessert, which we didn't, but I did inquire about it. I was told they have someone who makes the cakes for them. However, as I walked back to my table from the restroom, I clearly saw the cakes in Walmart containers. Seeing how they list a slice of cake for $12, I was glad we hadn't ordered any. The food was good, but nothing extraordinary; everything was very simple. Honestly, my husband and I enjoyed the beans, and loaded potato over the rest of the meal. We did not have dessert, nor an appetizer, just the two plates, and two drinks (we each received a refill), and our total was $63 and change. You don't get a ticket to see what they charged you, or to verify you were charged correctly, they just come to the table and tell you what you owe. Based on the total, we can only assume we were charged for refills although we didn't ask for them, she simply brought them, and I don't recall seeing any notes on the menu about no free refills. Mind you, if you order a soda, they bring you a glass of ice and a canned soda @$3 a pop. Normally, I would appreciate a waitress keeping our drinks full, but not if you're charging $3 per can! When we paid, we received $16 back. No "change", meaning they rounded up our ticket to keep it even without saying a word about it. We didn't say anything. All of that to say, we really enjoyed the atmosphere, the food was good, but again, not extraordinary; definitely not worth what we paid for it! Would we go back, maybe, but I'm in no rush.
