Read MoreI originally reached out to The Lodge & Club at Ponte Vedra Beach after seeing their high rating here, hoping to inquire about a preferred rate. To my surprise, my message went completely unanswered. At first I was disappointed with the lack of basic courtesy in communication, but after digging a little deeper, I realize they may have done me a favor.
Checking reviews on AAA, I discovered some very concerning patterns: guests reporting no electricity and no generator in 95 degree heat, weddings that block ocean views, a manager who “doesn’t care,” and the property being far from kid friendly as advertised. Add to that feedback about the resort being overpriced, poor value for money, and a bit stuffy, and it’s clear that the glossy image they project doesn’t match reality.
For a property at this price point, I expect professionalism, responsiveness, and a standard of service that respects guests’ time and investment. Instead, what I encountered was silence, and based on others’ experiences, perhaps worse. I won’t be booking here, and I would caution others to take a very close look at the less flattering reviews before committing.
