I've been to The Goat 2 Thursdays in the past month. That's Prime Rib night.
We left, the 1st time, after the server never came to take our food order. The 2nd time, same dude took at least 20 minutes to get us a beer. He did come back for our food order. He said he'd be back in 5 minutes for our order. It was no less than 20 minutes later.
The onion rings are phenomenal. We did get the prime rib. It was whelming. Not over nor under that unit of measure. The mashed potatoes are the highlight of the plate. No choice of meat temperature was offered. It was medium. A man across from us took it upon himself to order "as rare as you have'. He got medium. Apparently, that's as rare as they have.
I love this place!
There have been 25 plus people in the joint & there's ONE GUY working the front of the house. He does it & he does it at his own pace which shows no bit of urgency. He might also be running the kitchen for all I know.
It's fantastic people watching to see other parties get frustrated & overly demanding of the only person anyone sees working there. Dude's level of concern is around that same level of urgency I noted above.
The beer is cold. The food will feed you. The TVs are great quality. There's very little seating. There's ONE GUY serving the entire joint. If this makes you angry, it's your own fault. It's not only obvious but the man will tell you he's all there is for the whole place.
Beer, seltzers & wine only by the way. The beer is cold & the wine is super overpriced.
This is the best sports bar in all of Del Mar by far.
