Tacos Cantu – Duncanville Review (Visited 04.07.2025)
I stopped by Tacos Cantu in Duncanville yesterday and wanted to leave a quick review based on the food, the menu, and the service. I ordered the Five Cheese Enchiladas, and I have to be honest—it should not be called that by any stretch of the imagination.
The enchiladas came out as four to five small tortillas with a light sprinkle of crumbled cheese that resembled mozzarella—but certainly not five different cheeses. If you're expecting a bold, layered cheese experience, this isn’t it. So, for the menu accuracy, I’d have to rate it a 0 out of 10.
As for the food itself, I wouldn’t say it was bad—but I can’t say it was great either. If you’re hungry and looking for a decent portion, you’ll get that here. The plate came with your choice of black or refried beans, a side salad, and rice, which is a nice, typical Latin combo. I’ll give portion size a thumbs-up, but the taste and quality I’d rate a 4 out of 10.
Where Tacos Cantu really shines is in service and customer experience. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely wanted to make sure I was satisfied. When I asked about the missing "five cheeses," they kindly explained and even offered me extra shredded mozzarella—no charge. Small gesture, but it made a difference.
When I decided to eat in instead of taking my food to go, I noticed there were no visible trash bins. A friendly staff member motioned for me to just leave it on the table. I thanked her, and she smiled warmly—it’s those little moments that make a place feel inviting.
So here’s the breakdown:
Menu Accuracy: 0/10
Food Taste & Quality: 4/10
Portion Size: Solid
Customer Service & Environment: 10/10
If you enjoy Mexican cuisine, I’d still suggest stopping by—everyone has off days, and your experience may be different. But one thing I do recommend: change the name of that entrée—because there are definitely not five cheeses anywhere on that plate.
