I have been and now it’s off my list! Since the beginning of my high protein diet, I increased some diaries, red meat, chicken, seafood, protein bars and shakes. I start eating steak like 2-4x weekly to high up my protein. So some high end steak houses joined my to go list. I had been to Longhorn, Fogo the chao and nothing exciting about them to make me want to go back. Though I want a good steak and experience, I still don’t want to break my bank. Last night, I decided on @STK in midtown. It’s a reservation for 2; I hoped that we wouldn’t get the middle “hall” seat and was graced with the seat by the window. The atmosphere, ambiance and music were 🔥. Kudos to the DJ👋🏾. We ordered the night speacial which is $69 each (2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 1 wine bottle and 1 desert). Also there was an upgrade of $14.5 each if you choose powerhouse steak for the entree and to be shared. The server first acts as if he has never heard of it. We showed a screenshot of it and he came back with a small yellow menu. As of most server, he gave us his alternative and total will be $150 each (not the special and doesn’t come with sides) or the $100 each if we add powerhouse and seafood to the special menu. I was “I am not going from $69 to 150” but I don’t mind paying $100 for the upgrade which is special menu with powerhouse steak and seafood. We picked 2 appetizers (Cesar salad and burger bites), 1 entree which was powerhouse steak with seafood, 1 wine bottle (Prosecco) and 1 desert (donut bites). Right after entree, server comes with a barcode to rate the place and I told him I DEFINITELY WOULD but only after we are completely done! He said “ if you give a review now, I can talk to the manager to give you the desert on the house”. I responded “no thank you because our order already comes with a desert and will rate it later”. The bill comes and I see $304.85 with each chosen items priced out separately and even the “butters show” which were melt unto the steak were priced at $13 each!!!I am “hey, I think there is a mistake here” and he responded you upgrade to powerhouse and seafood. I was “yeah I remember” but this wasn’t the price we agreed on before we made our orders. He said “I said the upgrade will come up to a little over 100”. And here I am baffled and said are you kidding me; “a little over 100 is 150 when I already said NO when you first tried to sell me the idea of $150 menu?”My girl/sis was “it’s fine I enjoyed the ambiance and music” and I replied “not to the point to be lied to or taken advantage of”. So for this experience about the pricing my rating is 2/5.Now for the food: the Cesar salad was 10/10, the burger bite 4/10 (MacDo is better), the steak is 5/10 (not seasoned to my taste), the shrimp was dry 5/10. Asparagus 6/10 and mac&cheese 4/10. The combination of donut with chocolate dip was bitter but the caramel dip topped it. The donut with caramel was 7/10 and with chocolate was 5/10. We got containers for the leftovers without a bag. Meanwhile our server disappeared the moment we paid; didn’t see him after that. On the way out with the container in my hand, another worker asked if we wanted a bag and I replied yes thank you. For the whole experience I am rating it 4/10!!!!
