My friend and I stopped in recently to thoroughly try their food, and we couldn’t have been more impressed or delighted. The service was absolutely top notch, matched only by their food. This place is on par with the best sushi houses in NYC, and I haven’t said that in 15 years of living here. We fortunately chose “omekase,” which is where the knowledgeable sushi chef chooses your meal adventure for you. We were educated on what we were eating, told of its origin and culinary significance, encouraged to pair flavors, and generously, thoroughly thrilled with every miraculous bite. At one point, my buddy said to me, “I feel like a god.” It was not an exaggeration. We couldn’t believe how consistently fine many of the items placed before us were. The multitude of thoughtfully-conceived flavors was impressive, the texture of every bite was meticulous perfection, the presentation was immaculate, and we were invited to try several beverages to enhance the flavors, which we were happy to oblige. The decor was simple but elegant, present to provide a backdrop for the main event, which was without a doubt the excellent fare. I forgot what a phone or a camera was for about an hour and a half, so you’ll have to excuse the lack of pictures, but suffice it to say that even sharing pictures of the food would fall as short as dancing about architecture would. The meal was not inexpensive, but this is not a some discount sushi; this was one of the finest and most complete dining experiences I’ve had in over a decade, and I would gladly partake again. (Thinking about the meal, to think of prices feels vulgar.) Be prepared for an absolutely stunning and fully-engrossing experience while dining at this show-stopping restaurant. I don’t hand out 5 stars easily, but this one is beyond worthy.
