Read MoreThis place has been on my list of must try’s for some time now. I’ve heard some wonderful things from locals about how wonderful the food is. They weren’t wrong- the food is absolutely delicious. The flavors and the quality of the sushi are definitely top tier. This place certainly has the potential to be one of my favorite neighborhood sushi spots.However, what soured the experience and makes me hesitant to return was the abysmal service. Our server seated us and essentially forgot we were there. She took our order and conveniently disappeared for the remainder of the night. Didn’t even leave any sauce or condiments on the table for the upcoming meal. When she did manage to surface, we requested a drink on three different occasions and it never came. There was an even a point when our food didn’t come for more than half an hour, and not a single time did she check to see if the kitchen had remembered to make our order. We honestly thought she probably forgot to put the order in given that our drink never came. Mind you, the place seemed busy with to-go orders, but there were several empty tables and sections, so the dining room was not very busy.The saving grace was this phenomenal server Thea (who was not even assigned to our section) noticing that we were basically being neglected. Her intuition was spot on - she noticed us silently fuming and restlessly waiting for service and immediately jumped to the rescue from her section in the back. Without hesitation, she asked us what we needed, filled our empty water glasses and made sure we got our requested drink. When she noticed we didn’t have sauce or ginger on the table, she promptly offered to get us some. Throughout the rest of the night Thea would come and check in on us frequently and let us know we could call her if we needed anything (meanwhile our original server was nowhere to be found). Later she noticed we were waiting even longer than usual for our food, and she gave the kitchen a gentle nudge (without being prompted or asked)- the food came within minutes after that.Our server did end up making one final appearance to ask if “we were ok,” then promptly took our soy sauce away before the rest of food even came.Ultimately, Thea came to rescue and saved us from just walking out. If we return, we would only go if she were our server.Overall, lots of potential, food is incredible, but service could be more consistent.
