Stepping into Schmidt's is like being transported to a charming German village. The atmosphere is simply beautiful, with the restaurant resembling a cozy German cottage. The surrounding village adds to the enchantment, boasting adorable brick roads and picturesque houses. It’s the perfect setting for a leisurely post-dinner stroll, with a lovely park just around the corner.
Don't forget to visit the fudge Haus across the street for a sweet treat before or after your meal – Schmidt's even sells some of their delectable fudge and chocolate inside the restaurant!
Our experience was made even more delightful by our server, Lorenzo. He was truly great – very attentive, incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, and wonderfully kind and pleasant.
We were also impressed by their excellent selection of non-alcoholic beverages, including a fantastic imported German beer. I don't drink alcohol so this was a nice surprise!
Now, let's talk about the food – it's amazing! The sauerkraut balls are a must-try; when paired with the creamy mustard, they offer a surprising and delicious pickle-like tang. My husband raved about his Reuben, noting its unique and excellent flavor, even compared to his usual from Izzy's. I thoroughly enjoyed the cabbage rolls, which were not only delicious but also incredibly generous in portion size – I had plenty left over for lunch the next day! Our son, a fan of variety, happily indulged in the buffet, especially enjoying the sausage and rice.
To top it all off, we took home a cream puff dessert, which was absolutely divine.
If you're craving authentic German food in a comfortable, homey setting, Schmidt's is an absolute gem you won't want to miss!
