We came for a tasting to choose a restaurant to cater a wedding. Holy cow, was this good!!!! He highlight was the Channa Bhatura - smoky, aromatic, cooked to perfection. That being said, the paneer tikka masala, saag paneer, idli, pakora, sambaar were all fantastic, and the ghobi Manchurian was very good as well. We did order bindhi which was a bit middling, however everything was very well cooked. Naan was soft and buttery with a nice crisp crust and plenty of air with a slight chew. The flavors all around were complex, layered with a perfect balance of salt. I will say the spice level was wonderful for a “general” audience, but when we asked to tweak it up for our palate, they served us a beautiful daal makhni with a good kick. Finally, the chutneys were home-made, great blend of sweet and spicy. Went great with the Samosas!
The wait staff was so sweet and efficient, the owner and chef came out to speak with us throughout the meal, and the atmosphere was nice and quiet, perfect for conversation. The only negative here, is there was a television in my eyeliner, just stuck on pause. Fair warning - this restaurant is next to a banquet hall (also owned by the restaurant?) and the music and sounds carried over - but it sounded fun!
All in all, a wonderful experience. We’ll definitely back, and everyone in our party unanimously voted to request Royal Delhi Palace to cater the wedding!
