I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. I want to start by saying every employee we encountered was very kind and personable. They were never the issue and the one star in my one star review is for them.
My mother and grandmother both got the tomato caprese salad with grilled chicken. Approximately 36 hours later they both became violently ill. Vomiting, diarrhea, fevers, etc. They were the only people in our party of 6 to fall ill, so pretty safe to say it was the salads. They recovered within another 48 hours or so. The rest of us got either burgers (well done) or fish, and had no problems. However, this wasn't even the worst part of our experience here.
The worst part was the very clear exploitation of the local wildlife (tarpon, pelicans, etc) for a huge profit on the establishment's part. We saw multiple people chasing and hitting the pelicans, and laughing. A middle school aged boy hit one of the pelicans over the head with his fish bucket, and when we asked his father if he had seen what his son did, he simply brushed it off. The dock was extremely crowded with people, many of them drunk, who would jump back and scream when the tarpon ate the fish. I almost got knocked off the dock several times. There was only one employee on the dock who couldn't possibly manage the huge crowd. It was very sad to see how clearly popular this place is, and knowing that the establishment doesn't care about the wildlife as long as they're still making money.
We all left feeling awful knowing we had given them any of our hard earned dollars and knowing we had partaken in paying to go onto the dock. I hope one day they will at least impose far stricter rules around the number of people on the dock and how the animals are treated. We will certainly never be returning, and if anything I will be trying to actively turn people away from this place.
