My wife and I ordered the Queso con carne enchiladas, brisket tacos, and the “chuck” tacos. Both tacos were breakfast tacos served with scrambled eggs, potatoes, onion and were topped with sliced brisket or smoked sausage.
The meats were very flavorful. The brisket was nice and smokey, it had the perfect smoke ring and bark on the outside. It compliments the eggs and potatoes beautifully….and the potatoes, an unexpected star of this show. Perfectly seasoned, they were both sliced and chopped. Potato skins were also left on which added to the flavor.
The smoked sausage was delicious in its own right. The perfect balance between smokey and savory. Both tacos came with homemade tortilla chips and salsa. Beware, the salsa definitely packs the heat. A little too hot for my liking, and I do love me a good salsa, but this borders on ghost chili hot. My wife enjoyed it though.
The queso con carne enchilada was a little different than we expected, but enjoyable nonetheless. It consisted of tortillas stuffed with oaxaca cheese and topped with a chili cheese sauce. The dish was served with rice and beans. The beans were pleasantly surprising. They had sliced onion and jalapeños mixed in. I had never had beans served to me this way.
The staff were very friendly. Our order taker made sure to explain everything to us, as we were first timers. She made sure to point out that breakfast will now be served at this establishment daily and that soft drinks were free with our meal purchase.
The restaurant was clean, modern and inviting. The seats were very comfortable. Whomever designed the layout really put thought into this. Not many dining establishments go as far as to make sure the restrooms are as inviting as the rest of restaurant, but Oscars did! We were impressed with our experience. Based on our overall experience, I give this restaurant my personal score of 4.79 out of 5.
Keep doing what you’re doing.
