I live nearby this little plaza and have to say that I’ve seen many a restaurant come and go in the past few years.
I’m strongly in hopes that this one makes it because holy hell was the food good. The drinks were delicious and consistent in taste. I tried the adobada fries with a side of the tiny chile rellenos, paired with a Mango Habanero Margarita…man was I overjoyed that this spot is so close to home.
The service was top notch, with multiple workers stopping in to check on us, and not annoyingly so. They seemed genuinely interested in making our experience delightful, but letting the food speak for itself.
Unfortunately , for the vibe that it’s going for, I feel the location isn’t perfect for it, so I’m hoping it doesn’t hinder its success. It would sit right at home in downtown Downey or at the Landing to achieve ultimate success. That said, it’s still in near a theater, so it makes for a great before or after movie date spot. Those of you that head to Downey Landing for food and movies can now have that same experience at El Paseo and the little plaza across the street.
