Bo (Beaux?) the manager at the location got the email from corp that they had asked me to send. He reached out to me personally to chat about the experience. I greatly appreciate his taking the time to talk with me and also to our server to make it better. Here's to getting back to the normal good service we've had before this.
So Grimaldi's is absolutely stellar when it comes to the food. We absolutely LOVE their pizza and calzones. Every other time we've been there, we have had zero issues. HOWEVER... gotta deduct some stars for the really sub-par service we got Sunday. I can understand the manager advising us that the fires in the ovens had to be stoked, and we would have to wait awhile. A-ok, there is a toy store next door for the kids, no big deal. He's an awesome manager and always super nice. But the young lady who I'm guessing was the bartender and also taking tables (I'm guessing it was due to shift change times etc. I've worked in the food and bev industry for quite awhile in the past, so I get how timing goes...BUT still zero excuse) was a WHOLE other story. Just for reference, she's the blond with the pink under-color to her hair (you know, in case you want to ask for someone less grouchy...or management wants to have a little chat with her). So we come back about 30 minutes later, get a table, and right off the bat, she brings my friend and I dough for our kids to play with and pretty much tosses it on the table. Not so much a hi hello, I'm so and so...she was monotone and well, snotty. Like I could hear her rolling her eyes at the fact she had to be there at all. So we proceed to order drinks and at that point she asks if we want salads (no, we are ok, no salads) and my friend says we know the ovens are almost done and it will be a few minutes, but here's our order, just somit can at least be entered. Ohhhh em-gee here comes the monotone eyeroll again... and I quote 'Ummmmm yea, I can't put that in right now...' Like ZERO politeness...she was at out rude in her tone. You know how tone of voice says everything?? Yep she could learn this, just saying. We totally got it would be a few still, but her tone and attitude was uncalled for. Proceed to the rest of the meal...food comes out, she does bring us refills, but zero cheer, zero smile, all bitter. Not even a 'hey how's your food?' Nope, leaves it for the nice manager guy to do. So we finish our meal, blah blah blah...and we wait and wait and waaaaiitttt. Meanwhile princess pink hair is engrossed with some guy who had walked into the bar area and is flirting with him. My friend goes to get the hostess to see if she can get the girls attention and to get some boxes for us. Pink hair finally comes back over, grabs our stuff to put in the boxes in the back...and brings the checks, but not one time does she ask still how it was or oh hey, if one of us might be Prairiefire members (I am...I think we get a discount of some sort but I was never given a chance to inquire ). Folks this is the closest I've come, as an ex server and bartender, to NOT tipping. That's how awful she was.
So the point is: we love Grimaldis. The pizza and calzones and food are amazing. Service is usually pretty good. But on this one day, this girl almost ruined it for not one but two families. We'll be back, but not in her section. Maybe in the meantime management can give her a bit of an attitude fixer-upper so other customers are spared her snark.
