We frequent Marker 24 often and normally love it there. This is a place we love to come to and recommend to friends and family. However, we were extremely disappointed by the service tonight. Our waitress was incredible, and if I could alone give her 5 stars, I would. But a staff member at the bar was completely awful. Our group of 12 arrived and put our names in with the hostess (who was fantastic), and we were told we could be seated in 20-30 minutes. Our group was happy to wait. In the meantime, I went to the bar to ask for 8 waters for our group so I could bring it over to the group while we waited. I told the bartender that I was happy to bring them over myself if she’d like. The bartender was extremely rude and I overheard her talking to two other staff members on two separate occasions while pouring waters for us. She complained to them that I had come up to the bar to ask for water and rolled her eyes, saying “…they’re coming up to the bar”. At this point, we had not been seated - which was totally fine. Had we had a table, I wouldn’t have approached the bar to ask. But we truly just wanted some water, which is commonplace to ask for at a restaurant… She put the waters on a tray and rudely said “which table are you at”. I said “we’re not at a table yet, we’re just waiting - I can bring these over to the group”. She scoffed, took the tray and walked over to the group. Without greeting them, she *immediately* launched into a tirade saying “take these waters if you want them, I need to get back behind the bar…I need to get back behind the bar so take them or tell me you don’t want them”. To be clear, she approached the group with this attitude. It wasn’t as if she has come over politely and been ignored, or had been waiting any amount of time. I couldn’t believe the way she spoke to them. These people had done nothing to her and were just waiting for a table. Not to mention, most of the group were first time guests, and this was their first impression of Marker 24. I would not be surprised if they never came back. In my opinion, no one should speak to others this way. If the restaurant hadn’t been so busy, I would’ve asked to speak with her supervisor. I’m never one to leave bad reviews - especially at places I love. But her behavior in rolling her eyes, scoffing, and speaking poorly about her frustrations loudly enough to hear her from the other end of the bar, is completely inappropriate. Again, we love it there. This is the first negative experience we’ve had - but it was bad enough to solicit a poor, poor review of the service at Marker 24 tonight. Super unfortunate and I hope that this isn’t this staff member’s overall attitude, as I feel it reflects extremely poorly on the establishment and was certainly noticed by guests all around.
