Don’t underestimate this little restaurant because it’s inside a store near a laundry wash—it’s indeed one of the best hidden gems I have ever found, and I’ve been to too many restaurants to count. You’re greeted by a kind and shy lady who takes your order by notepad and gives you a sticky note with the price of your order to pay at the register near the door.
This restaurant offers flavors from the Guanajuato region of Mexico. The color of the masa tells you right away that these aren’t your regular gorditas, and the filling is made from scratch as soon as you order. The salsa is rich and authentic, unlike other restaurants that cater to the non-latin locals’ weak spice tolerance levels, so don’t forget to add a beverage to your order if your spice tolerance ain’t game.
My long hunt for the best gorditas in the metroplex ended here. It simply doesn’t get better than this. The sheer size of the gorditas is not for show; they actually perform in every bite. I had a gordita de picadillo and a deshebrada, and to put it simply, from grill to mouth, the mixture of meats and spices was perfection at its finest. Fly, drive, walk, or crawl, do whatever it takes for you to get here because these gorditas are simply the best, and as foodies, regardless of the price of the dish, we only want the best for our buck. These ladies are working magic behind that small kitchen for real. Wow! Wow! Wow!
