31 Mar 2024 - That's the first time that I have eaten at a Los Cucos since I moved to San Antonio way back in Sep 2010. We used to go to the one over in Cypress that burned down about a year ago. We mainly went to that one about once per month after church on Sundays, and I had forgotten how absolutely DEE-STANKIN- LISHUS their food is!! Now I remember quite well though, and all that I can say is that it tastes like MORE!!! One thing that I really love about L.C. is all of the varieties of food on their menu. Believe it or not, after all of these years, I have YET to find another Mexican restaurant in San Antonio that has such a simple dish as Beef (or Chicken) Fajita Enchiladas on their menus. I have asked at every one that I have been to over here, and I usually just get a blank, confused look or a simple "No, we don't have that here." WHY THE HECK NOT???!!!!In my conversations with my excellent waiter Johnny G. on Sunday afternoon, I learned that there used to be a Los Cucos in San Antonio about 13 years ago, up near 281 & 1604 on the north side. However, for some odd reason they were not doing very well and ended up closing after about a year. That's a crying shame, bcuz I would be willing to bet that if a new L.C. was opened up in a different area of San Antonio (for example, near SeaWorld) it would have TONS of business and it would also very likely cause a bunch of the other so-called "Mexican" restaurants to go out of business, quick, fast and in a HURRY!!Most of the food that I have eaten at other Mexican restaurants around here is bland and just not very appealing at all, but that's not at all the case with L.C.!! I seldom ever eat hardly any of my Spanish rice, bcuz it's just greasy, flavorless, unnecessary carbs. Well that was NOT at all true with the rice that I had at L.C. on Sunday afternoon. It actually had some VERY DELICIOUS flavor and it also had big chunks of veggies inside of the scoop. That was definitely a change from the same old, nasty, greasy rice at every other Mexican restaurant in SATX.
