Upon entering we were greeted by 2 smiling gentlemen, I later found out it was Clint (owner) and Olin (hard worker and also Clint's Dad). The restaurant itself is very clean and looks like a good BBQ spot should. I can't explain it but its not kitchy or forced. We ordered 1lb moist brisket, 1/4 rack ribs, potato salad and Mac and Cheese. Let's face it...all of those items at any BBQ spot need to be amazing to make it a great meal (for me and the husband anyway) We sat down and dug in. I tried the brisket, then the potato salad, then the Mac and cheese....oh wait let me try a bit of the sauce (not really needed because the meat is so delicious) but that was good also! I was looking for something to not be good or not be amazing but everything was top notch. One of the best things about the food is that you can tell they put love and hard work into it and they don't copy anyone else. The Mac and cheese had a few types of cheese, you could taste the deepness of it and know that its homemade. The potato salad had the slightest hint of German potato salad flavor but still would appeal to the true, country, TX population. Oh, we tried a Range Ball (I think that's what the egg, sausage and bacon goodness was called) all I can say about that is that you need to go get one...tonight. I wanted to make it a proper visit and try Grandma Linke's Peach Cobbler....l really should have had dessert first. My full stomach couldn't give the proper room that Grandma's cobbler deserved but it was the best tasting cobbler I've ever had. How can it be the best? The "crust" is like no other I've ever had. Try it! I'm going back tomorrow to just get some cobbler.
I love BBQ and mostly smoke my own so it's difficult for me to find a spot I like. I don't have to look anymore...this place beats out the big names around here and the local place(s) by far! Don't be like me and miss out for all this time!
