We were very disappointed in the service we received on the evening of 8/14.
My boyfriend and I are in DC from out of town as an anniversary trip, and we decided to try Lincoln on the night of our anniversary. Lincoln was surprisingly slow and we were brought to a table instantly. However, we felt like we were being stereotyped as a table that wouldn’t tip before we even got the chance to sit down.
My boyfriend and I have a combined restaurant experience of 12 years in fine dining, and if you’re in the industry, you know that there is a stereotype against young couples being bad tippers. Service from our server (George L, as pictured) was reluctant and slow. It felt like he was avoiding our table, while we could overhear him being much more friendly and chatty with other tables near us. He only checked on us once, and I thought it was interesting that he was suddenly more friendly when it was time to pay the bill. I do think this is an individual issue rather than an issue with the restaurant as a whole, because the backwaiter, food runner, host, and bartender were all very friendly. Maybe our experience would’ve been different with a different server on a different day, but we can’t help but wonder how this server treats minorities and foreigners if he is begrudging to serve a young couple. This needs to be addressed.
As for the food, it was good but not fantastic. The appetizers were delicious: Brussels sprouts with goat cheese and lobster bisque. The entrees were halfway disappointing; they don’t season the steak with anything and they pre-cut it in the kitchen. The chicken pot pie was delicious. The desserts were my favorite parts; my boyfriend had the peach melba and I had the brown butter fudge cake. The fudge cake was delicious; very rich, although I believe it may have been flourless due to the texture.
The drinks were disappointing. My boyfriend ordered the margarita and we both agreed it tasted like straight up casamigos. I had the Abe’s Moonshine and it was good, but the ginger flavor was very strong.
Would have been worth the money if service was better.
