Very disappointing stay -- This L'Auberge is NOT affiliated with the L'Auberge Group that owns L'Auberge Napa. I wish I had checked that assumption before booking. The rooms were OK but with flaws. The decor was mismatched and dated. The roller shade on one of the two ocean-facing windows of Room 30 was broken, which I reported to the front desk, and no one came to fix that. The five pillows in the room were identical -- synthetic balloon-like (no loft or contour) -- and when I called the front desk to ask for alternatives I was advised that there were none, and that the few cotton pillows they kept on hand were already lent out. The in-room Nespresso (three capsules) was appreciated, but the refrigerator held only individual plastic non-dairy creamers, not actual milk, The breakfast options were in the room or in the courtyard, weather-permitting. I decided against the courtyard because it looked so dreary and bleak, see my photo for the sad-looking flower boxes in the windows. The home across the street had lovely lush flower boxes, and so the scraggly landscaping is not due to climate. Even though breakfast was included in the rate, I decided to go outside the hotel. The service was similarly uninspired and disinterested, with the exception of the young woman who served me a glass of wine before I left for dinner. You should also be aware that the second floor rooms require climbing narrow and steep stairs. Fine for me but would not suit anyone with mobility issues. On the plus side are the location and the valet parking included in the rate. However, at the rates they are charging, everything else about the experience was decidedly below expectations. I would not recommend.
