With no line ahead of me, I asked the server what they were known for, even though I'd already set my sights on the Gordo Burger Mix. I wanted to see if there was anything else I might have overlooked. Sure enough, the server confirmed my choice, and as a hot dog lover, I couldn't resist asking for their best dog. She recommended the Perro Hawaiian, which I ordered without reading the description. Blind faith was my guide. For good measure, I requested sides of garlic and pineapple sauces and selected an orange bottled soda after she couldn't suggest a definitive drink.
After grabbing my number, I settled into a table, letting the lively music and atmosphere fill the room while I waited. Before long, my food arrived, and the sight of the monstrous burger and hot dog brought a chuckle to my lips. The photos hadn't done them justice. Picking up the Gordo Burger Mix, I took the biggest bite I could manage, eager to understand why this burger is held in such high regard across South Florida.
