My friend and I were craving Japanese food and came across Kokolo Donburi while shopping in the area. The restaurant was very clean and the staff member taking orders was very nice! We ordered a bunch of food and didn't have to wait long for our dishes to arrive.
We ordered a bunch of appetizers: braised pork, signature Kokolo wings, mixed tempura, and unagi tempura. The braised pork was very tender, barely had to bite into it and was packed with flavor. The wings were crispy and the sauce was sweet! Just wished they were bigger. The mixed tempura had a nice mix of veggies and some shrimp. All of it was very crispy and the dipping sauce it came with added some umami flavor! The unagi tempura was very good too! I'm not typically an unagi eater but this one tasted better than most other unagi I had. It was also crisp to the bite!
Both of us ordered bowls as well. I got the signature pork katsu bowl and he got the unagi bowl. The unagi bowl had the more typical unagi I've seen most other places. It had that sweet soy glaze and was tender. I enjoyed the few bites I had of that. My pork katsu bowl was delicious as well! The katsu was covered in egg and onions. It stayed crispy and the meat tasted a little sweet which paired well with the saltiness of the whole dish.
Overall, we both really enjoyed our meal and experience at Kokolo! Whenever I'm in the area, I'm coming back to try more bowls!
