I want to share my experience with Kadyah Soul Food and advise everyone against having him cater food for any large events. My company previously ordered food from him while considering him for our tenants and staff Thanksgiving, and we found the experience to be quite disappointing. We felt disrespected, especially since we had paid him in cash for two events scheduled on November 25th and 26th.
For the first order, we clearly communicated our menu requirements, which included rice and peas, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, macaroni salad, cut-up turkey, and beef steaks. We repeated the same menu request for the second day. He quoted us a total of $3,700 for both events, catering to approximately 100 people. When we asked if he could lower the price to $3,500, he agreed.
Unfortunately, the first order was a huge disappointment. We informed the caterer that we would be serving 35 people, but when the food arrived, we were told it was too late to prepare rice and peas. Instead, we were offered yellow rice with bell peppers. While we accepted that option, the yellow rice was only half-filled in a medium pan.
The macaroni and cheese was too runny and poorly made, and we did not receive the beef steak as promised. Instead, we were given jerk chicken, but the portion was again only half-full. The candied yams were served in a half pan as well. The only item that met our expectations was the turkey, which was adequate in quantity.
The potato salad appeared store-bought, and even after adding paprika, it tasted bad. Overall, this experience felt like a disgrace and was very disrespectful to my company. I strongly advise anyone considering a large order from Kadyah's Soul Food to think twice; opting for just two or three plates may be a wiser choice.
The order for the second event was even worse. The rice was soggy, and the macaroni and cheese was burnt with a thin crust. Everything was a disaster, and the owner was rude and unprofessional.
