My husband and I finally made the trip to Julian after having this charming little town on our bucket list for a while. One spot I was especially excited to visit was Julian Pie Company—I’m a huge fan of apple pies, whether it’s Dutch, American, or even Apfelkuchen, so I never pass up the chance to try a new one!
We stopped by on a Saturday early afternoon, and as expected, it was busy. The line stretched out the door, and we waited about 20-30 minutes. While I understand weekends are likely their busiest time, the service could have been better. The cashier seemed overwhelmed, and the bustling atmosphere made the experience feel a bit chaotic.
We ordered the Dutch Apple Pie with Cinnamon Ice Cream. The combination was tasty, but I’ve definitely had better Dutch apple pies elsewhere. It didn’t quite live up to the hype for me, though the cinnamon ice cream was a nice touch.
I’d love to give Julian Pie Company another try on a quieter day and hope for an improved service experience. Julian itself is such a charming destination, and I’m optimistic this spot can deliver a better slice next time!
