Hokkaido Ramen Santouka in Bellevue downtown is hands down our favorite ramen spot on the east side, both for its location and the quality of its food. However, parking can be a challenge since the restaurant is in the heart of Bellevue. The small parking lot fills up quickly, and street parking in front is often hard to find. We usually end up parking farther away and walking. The line can get long, especially during peak times, and the waiting area is small, which can be inconvenient during cold weather. But honestly, the food makes it all worth it!
The restaurant itself is medium-sized with a variety of table options to accommodate different group sizes. The menu has a great range of ramen dishes, appetizers, and even non-ramen items. My personal favorite is the Toro Niku Ramen with Kara Miso. The pork cheek is tender and flavorful, and there’s plenty of meat. The soup has just the right amount of spice, and the portion size is perfect—filling but not overwhelming. We’ve tried the standard ramen as well, and while it’s still good, it doesn’t come with as much meat as the Toro Niku.
We also gave the seasonal citrus cold ramen a try, but it didn’t impress us as much as their original ramen dishes. For an added bonus, make sure to download their app and register for points. You can earn promotions for free appetizers or toppings, and I often score a free appetizer each visit with the app!
In terms of price, it’s similar to other ramen places, maybe a little on the higher side due to the downtown location. But the quality of the food and the overall experience make it a worthwhile visit every time.
