First off, let’s set the record straight: this is not Chick-fil-A. In fact, you’ll want to forget everything you think you know about a “crispy chicken sandwich” and reimagine it as a spicy Nashville hot chicken experience.
Atmosphere & Location
Hattie B’s on Lower Broadway sits right in the heart of Honky Tonk Highway. That means the energy is high, the music is loud, and yes, there will be a line. We got there around 5 p.m. on a Friday night, and patience was definitely required. But if you’re prepared for the wait, it’s worth it.
The Food
I went with the classic crispy Nashville hot chicken sandwich. The chicken was everything you’d want: crispy, tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The bun was soft and held up well, and I liked that they serve the garnishes (like slaw) on the side so you can build it how you like.
For sides, I ordered the pimento mac & cheese, which had a touch of heat at the end and was absolutely delicious. My wife ordered hers at the “medium” heat level, and I tried a bite. Spicy but flavorful, not just hot for the sake of being hot. I’ll admit, I usually avoid going too heavy on the heat (sweating buckets isn’t my style), but hers was so good that I might level up next time.
The French fries also deserve a shoutout. They were well-seasoned, perfectly crisp, and surprisingly addictive alongside the sandwich.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a quick, fast-food-style chicken sandwich, this is not your spot. If you want a true taste of Nashville hot chicken done right, Hattie B’s delivers. Bring your patience for the line, bring your appetite, and don’t be afraid to test your spice tolerance. You’ll be rewarded with one of the best chicken sandwiches in town.
