Despite my New Years resolution to "eat what you prepped" I have found an excuse to eat here 3 times in the 8 weeks they have been open!
A well made breakfast sandwich is a thing of beauty and my bacon, soft scrambled egg, lettuce, tomato add mayo on Texas toast was perfect. I got that to go on my way to work and it was so good I decided I needed to plan to have lunch there.
My second trip I ate there and got the 2 piece fried catfish with black eyed peas and French fries with GE sauce and a banana pudding to go. The catfish was huge and delicious and the French fries were crispy and well seasoned, no salt or pepper needed. The black eyed peas could have been my whole meal, they were loaded with pork! I also got to sample the jambalaya and I will be making another trip to to have that, it was outstanding.
Today I got the fried pork chops with mashed potatoes, buttered corn and cornbread. The chops were huge, I only managed one of them, my leftovers could have been an entire lunch and they were "cut with a butter knife" tender! I didn't know it came with cornbread and it was a treat!
While I was there today I overheard them discussing extended hours for Rodeo and some Rodeo food specials that I am excited about trying. Goode Eats is a true asset to this area, I can't wait till next week when I actually show up on smothered pork chop day!
