Just start heading in the direction of this place. Read this review on the way to confirm you are making the right choice... Because this review is as long as this place is good. I spent hours here eating, sipping chatting and having a soul soothing experience. You'll meet Jen as you come in and you know there is a spirit to this place. In the kitchen is John putting so much soul into the food you could almost hear ... Well... If food could play the saxophone, it would make an album that would still be in production today.
But you probably want to know about the food. They have meat, and fish, and chicken but also vegetarian and vegan options. Included in this is Jen & John's symphony of flavors that would make any herbivore try meat, and any omnivore possibly give up meat. This to say that every dish I've had there is amazing... Maybe even too amazing, some of this requires a pretty open pallet... If you are a salsa with your chicken strips kind of person, let Jen know and she'll steer you away from the 1 or 2 items that might challenge what you think a journey of flavor should be.
But the food, it changes often, and is prepared with heart, soul and just technical perfection. The 21 hour tri tip cut like marbled wayugu but had NO fat. The ribs indeed fell off the bone. But don't go expecting these dishes, it changes weekly, but there is always something good to eat.
So we talked about the food. Now the drink.. no spirits or hard liquor, but the wine selection is wide enough to satisfy anyone, but not overwhelming. The strawberry frose was what anyone who grew up in the 80s would now want as an Icee (it isn't overly sweet, so don't worry about that, it is pleasantly balanced).
But now Jen... She is the heart of this place, and you will leave here with a fuller soul, a wider smile and a happy pop in your step. This place is just comfortable and it starts with Jen. But don't let the bubbly care free personality fool you... Jen knows her food. I could brag here but just visit and see for yourself.
John, who you might not ever see is in the back, trained with chefs that beat iron chefs, worked with James Beard award winners, but is still trying to out do himself every day... Exactly what you want in a chef... Never accepting the perfection in front of him (which is coming out of the kitchen) and moving on to perfect the next dish.
So, are you in front of the restaurant yet? Go in! Still on the fence just look at the photos and know that this place deserves 7 stars on a scale of 1 to 5 and has me questioning every other 5 star review I've ever given.
