Read MoreToday was my first visit to Don Fitos. The location is right off of Power Rd near Baseline Rd. It is located in the small strip mall area on the northwest corner of the Fry's parking lot. The food was great, the people were kind and the restaurant was clean, fresh and new.
First, the food. I ordered a maya burrito (birria shredded meat with beans, cheese, and rice), a carne asada corn taco, and some chips and bean dip. My son ordered the same burrito and a chicken taco. Finally, I ordered a Jerritos orange soda. The corn taco was absolutely perfect. Hot carne asada, perfect corn tortillas, and an exquisite layer of white cheese melted inside the taco. It was brilliant. The maya burrito was also excellent. The chicken was juicy as well on the corn taco.
Prices for the food were reasonable. The tacos were between $3 - $4 each. The burritos were under $10 each. The menu also features quesadillas, tortas, nachos, carne asada fries and a few other items. Lunch for the two of us about $45, including chips and bean dip appetizer, taxes, and tip.
The staff was very attentive, kind, and helpful. The moment we walked in, the staff explained the food, the options and made suggestions. Once we ordered, the food was made quickly and came out to our table. The food came out hot, which is 50% of making any food taste great! I saw a large bbq grill out back on which the carne asada and chicken were being grilled hot and fresh. One of the employees stopped and showed me the fresh, grilled steak just cooked on the outdoor grill. I also spoke with one of the chefs who talked about marinating all the meat served at Don Fitos.
Overall, the beautiful clean new restaurant, the great tasting and fresh food, and the kind and efficient staff make this taqueria a great new location that I will be returning to soon.
If you haven't tried Don Fitos, I highly recommend it! I will be going back to try more of the menu.
