To stretch a little bit and create a parallel, new deli cuisine is to Indian cuisine, what Parisian cuisine is to French cuisine. With more influences and cultures concentrated at the same table as opposed to more traditional fare.
Nonetheless, Krishna, the owner here and Amin the chef, take what they do very seriously, and this neighborhood is blessed for it.
I've been eating Indian food my entire life and this is among one of the greatest dining experiences I have ever had eating Indian food of any kind at a restaurant.
I always start with something that is a staple of a restaurant. So I ordered the butter chicken and the korma curry with vegetables, some garlic naan and a mango lassie.
Right away. When the items arrived at my table, I could smell the herbs, and spices, and upon first taste, I was very happy. There was no extra sugar, salt, or anything except real, natural flavor cooked by a Master Chef in each one of these dishes.
The butter chicken was absolutely spectacular, and the korma curry deeper, and richer than any I have had before. The garlic naan was absolutely perfect, and the mango lasse, and not from a mix.
Talking with Krishna who is a delightful host, she explained some of the principles of New Delhi cuisine to me, and how she had pride in her restaurant and her food, and it shows. This is a wonderful place, and it costs a little bit more, but it is worth every penny. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, and the atmosphere service and the people there in general are just divine.
