This is my first time experiencing Northern China cuisine in Austin and I am so sorry that it took me so long to visit Chen Z. If you're in search of a romantic setting and designer decor, go elsewhere. This venue is as stark as they get but I came for the food. The menu is on the wall and after perusing, one can order, be given a number and the order will be brought to your table.
For an appetizer, the green onion pancake was ordered.
I ordered the lamb stir fried noodle that I thoroughly enjoyed however, I would have preferred slices of lamb instead of the little cubes.
My fellow foodie had gone to the juice shop next door to get the fresh watermelon juices and while he was gone, his order of cold beef arrived which I almost totally consumed.
I had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners, Shirley, who was very gracious. I, without fail, will return as I saw many other items on the wall that I would like to experience.
